Round 1 Pick 7 *acquired from Buffalo-trade.
OF Kevin Harvey
DOB:12/19/2023 (Age:18)
Height/Weight 6'5"/210 lbs
Breakdown: Big six foot five inch Harvey possibly is the most advanced high school bat to be drafted in some time. He is athletic enough to man the outfield but LF is probably gonna be where he stays. his defense will become average at best and he doesnt run well, but moves well enough for a guy his size. Known more for power than pure hitting, Harvey doesn't have great projection when it comes to average; excellent strength to drive the ball out to all fields but can get pull-happy with soft stuff away, which will create problems. Tremendous raw power, among best in the draft class; upside as 25-30 HR player in the big leagues; can put on a show in batting practice, driving balls out easily to all fields; excellent strength in wrists and powerful lower half create backspin that carries the ball. Aside from power, Harvey's best attribute right now is his ability to work counts and recognize pitches; has a tendency to let hittable pitches go by, which is going to hurt him against professional pitching, but he understands the strike zone so well that it won't be crippling.
Round 2 Pick 34
SS Bill Dennis
DOB:12/15/2020 (Age:21)
Height/Weight:5'9"/175 lbs
Breakdown: Key West decides to go with Bill Dennis with their second pick. Pick is somewhat a reach as he doesnt project to be able to stay at SS, his defense at best will be average and look for him to be moved to second. Dennis doesnt hit for power but he does put the ball in play, making contact and putting the ball in play will be his strength. he has an aggressive approach at the plate which wont lead to too many walks. He can run and will steal some bases for you but it wont be a tool that stands out
Round 4 Pick 53
OF Darren Peterson
DOB:03/04/2020 (21)
Height/Weight 6'0"/190 lbs
Breakdown: Key West was intrigued with Peterson's athleticism. Peterson is a threat on the basepaths and could average 35-50 stolen bases per season easily, that speed helps him cover a lot of ground in CF. Peterson has gold gloves written all over him. Silky smooth centerfielder who gets great jumps on balls off the bat and taking direct lines to balls make tough plays seem effortless. At the plate he has some work to do. His long swing hinders him from making good strong contact so he has some work to do to become a WBL player. If he can make progress with his bat Key West could have quite a find.
Round 5 Pick 83
OF Marvin Hammond
DOB:06/23/2023 (18)
Height/Weight 6'3"/210 lbs
Breakdown: Key West take another big High School Outfielder. He doesnt project as well as Harvey, but the kid has decent pop. Pirates love the kids work ethic and think his tools will play up with his hard work. he has played some 1B which the Pirates system currently lacks. look for a possible position move for Hammond.
Round 6 Pick 85 *acquired from Istanbul Ottomans - 3B Steve Hahn Trade
RHP Nick Hill
DOB:08/09/2023
Height/Weight 6'1"/180 lbs
Breakdown: Nick Hill is a finesse smoke and mirrors pitcher. Nothing he throws is straight. his best pitch is his change. He uses his slider, cutter and Knucklecurve and a funky delivery to add to his deception, that has a slight pause in his leg kick to try and throw off your timing. he pitches up, down, inside and out to keep you off balance. he will have to work hard if has any dreams to make it to the bigs. not seeing alot of projection here.
