Is Pittsburgh Gold the awesome gold/yellow from the 80s and 90s jerseys? If so, it's got my support.
Yeah. Latest rumor is it's the "Sunday" all-gold sweaters that were worn Lemieux's rookie season.

I wish they'd go back to the 1990s sweaters for a while now.

They might be hard to pull off with the Reebok template and everything being more snug, but give it a shot. Using the same template as the Senators with a color swap is too generic.

I think moving some of the franchises to those markets would be a better tactic. If those cities want a franchise and have shown they can support teams, then give them Florida.

If Bettman was smart, he would give Seattle a franchise before they widdle the NBA down. That city seems to support their teams with support. Plus Neon hockey sweaters.

Would a Las Vegas team even draw? There are a shade under two million people in the Las Vegas Metropolitan area but how many people are employed by the casinos at night when the games would be played? I could see this becoming a "destination" building i.e. I build a trip to Las Vegas around a Penguins game there.

It is good to support the teams with support, I agree

I caught that today when I checked for the expansion draft link and just let it be.

No more Penalty Shot Spin-O-Ramas.

Rule 24 – Penalty Shot
The 'Spin-O-Rama' move, as described in Section 24.2 of the 2013-14 NHL Rule Book, will no longer be permitted either in Penalty Shot situations or in the Shootout.

I can kind of see where the rule is coming from. You're supposed to maintain forward motion at all times and spinning around is not really forward motion.

Hopefully this is a toe in the water to bring back the real black and gold. How many teams have had alternate sweaters get promoted to full-time status? That sweater would look great hanging next to my 1992 Bob Errey Stanley Cup jersey.

Quite often, actually - at least in the last 20 years.

1997: Penguins
1998: Sharks, Blues
1999: Stars, Senators
2000: Flames, Capitals
2001: Flyers
2002: Penguins again
2003: Panthers
2006: Thrashers
2007: Wild
2010: Sabres, Islanders, Stars again
2011: Oilers, Kings
2014: Ducks

And no, I only knew the years of a couple of those off of the top of my head.

Random question that popped into my head...why is there no NHL team in Seattle? Major metro area with plenty of money right across from Canada...seems like a no brainer?

They were about to join the league in the 70's along with Denver as expansion teams. Then Denver got the Kansas City Scouts and funding for the Seattle team fell through. Keep in mind the NHL expanded rapidly in the 70's to beat the WHA to some markets.

Seattle, Las Vegas and Kansas City are the American cities that are always mentioned as potential markets. Seattle makes the most sense in my mind since they seem to support every team they get.

I think the biggest gap is that Seattle wants a Basketball team before they commit to building a new Arena and NHL wants them to have an arena before. It's been awhile since I've looked into it so I may be wrong.

They already have a football team. I don't think the hipsters can handle another contact sport. Plus, they'll have a collective aneurysm when they see how white the league is.

Rangers against the Blues tonight. Can't wait!

Also the Rangers have a black player now that has the potential to score goals and be a star, I'm very happy about that

I haven't ordered a jersey yet but I should get a t-shirt at least with his name.

RIP Bylsma era. This team goes to the net and creates turnovers. Still have a sieve in net though but we'll wait for him to implode come May.

I was worried about how good the Avs are before this game. Hopefully this is just an aberration, but I don't think they got blown out like this last year.

Just got home from work and turned on the Wild game. What the heck?! Hopefully Colorado isn't this bad.
