Kicker Mauro Bondi herps and derps his way to a broken collarbone in a motorcycle accident and gets cited for driving without a license and negligence. Great move, bro.

Well it was a fun game to watch. I have never seen a interception get thrown out because of a penalty before. Those Miami players were ready to fight.

The best part of that game was watching Miami do what they do best...self-destruct! The game was still in doubt after we intercepted the ball on 4th down, but then the dumbasses handed us 45 yards in penalties...gift-wrapping one more TD for Ameer. "All about da u!"

The Miami fans I saw at the game were pretty nice people. I am sure they were treated well, but God...I hate your team with a red hot passion after what I saw tonight! It really whipped the crowd into a frenzy though...fans were just not gonna let Miami get back in the game after the cheap shots started coming. It had the exact opposite effect of what they wanted.

NU still has a long way to go, but I am very happy with the outcome tonight. I feel like it's a big step in the right direction...time will tell if it's a big enough step.

Uhhh firstly y'all were awesome. Everyone was ridiculously nice. Every Cane I ran into was like... "I need someone to bump me as I'm walking and I need them to then tell me to fuck myself because everyone is way too nice" haha

I was being hosted by my friend and his pals (all Nebraska Alumni) so we had seats in the club section and we tailgated in the Champion's Club parking lot after tailgating in a few other places downtown. I had a blast.

I went to some country concert lol. You couldn't miss me. I was the only 6'6" black dude in the place and I had on a slim fit jacket in case any of you happened to see me Friday night.

I had awesome wings at The Watering Hole. We missed out on Misty's which I regret but oh well. Next time. I had breakfast burritos on Sunday morning at Deleone's. Everyone told me I had to have this stadium pizza (forget the name) and a Runza. The Runza was straight. The pizza... I'm from New York and I've had Chicago's. So basically y'all need to step your pizza game up haha.

I had a blast though man. Lincoln was awesome. Great little city, nice state. Super nice people. The stadium was awesome. I was blown away by the whole experience really.

The stadium pizza would have been Valentino's. Honestly, there's nothing special about it. It's more or less a comfort food...people like it because they grew up with it. Quality wise, it's on par with Pizza Hut or Godfathers, but it tastes a little better. Nebraska does have some decent pizza....nothing that is going to compete with New York or Chicago, but if you are ever in Omaha, you should check out La Casa or Pitch Pizzeria.

I'm glad you liked the Runza...that is the one thing I would recommend every visitor try. I'm glad you had a good time. Those are better seats than I've ever had and I've had season tickets for 10 years...haha. Hope you can come back some time when Miami isn't playing so you can cheer for the home team! :)

That's awesome to hear, glad you had a great time. You were probably up by me, I have season tickets down low behind the visitor bench but I've sold them and sat up in the West Stadium club level the last few games and have parking spot at the Champion's Club (although I rarely end up using it because I live downtown and walk). How convenient is the Champion's Club? Love that place. Your experience mirrors that of most visitors, Nebraska fans are nice almost to the point of being obnoxious haha. You just want someone to start shit because pretty much everywhere you go that's how it is. Not here. Had a few Cane fans walk up to me after the game and ask which way the bars were, was happy to point them on their way. I have no doubt some Nebraska fans bought them a round wherever they ended up.

Miami being in town certainly fired up the crowd even more than usual, that was as intense and loud of an atmosphere as we've had over the last few seasons. The 94 Championship team coming out in the tunnel walk and like three decades of frustration with Miami made it a great environment. On the list of teams Nebraska fans can't stand, Miami is probably #2 behind Texas but even then our fans can't help but be nice. Despite the disdain for Miami, I think Nebraska fans were excited to see an old rival. After the move to the Big Ten we don't get to see much of our traditional rivals like Oklahoma, Colorado, Missouri, Texas, Kansas so getting to see Miami was a nice treat. I like the Big Ten but kind of miss playing or historic rivals from the Big 12 or the three main Florida schools (FSU, UF, Miami) we matched up with constantly in bowl games.

As for Valentino's pizza, yeah, our pizza game is not great. I apologize on Nebraska's behalf. People here swear by it, but those are usually the people who haven't ever left. Having lived in Chicago for a decade and eaten pizza all over the country... it's awful. Runzas are one of those things every visitor should try just for the novelty. Can't say I'm a fan but even I enjoy like one per season.

I'm sure a ton of Nebraska fans will make the trek down south next year. We travel absurdly well and it will have been a while since any of us have gotten to make a trip to Miami. I've traveled to see Nebraska play a ton of places from coast to coast and everywhere in between but Miami will be one place I haven't been so I know I'll be there.

Thanks for coming! It's always great to have visiting fans enjoy their experience and have good things to say. Nebraska fans take pride in that.

I think the OL has been a lot better since the McNeese State game. I have no complaints about them since then. Who ya got next week?

My homer pick - I think Nebraska loses a close one in East Lansing, but wins out and beats them soundly in the grudge match for the BTN championship. Next week's score:

Michigan State 38
Nebraska 31

Dr. Shats Basoon

Closed mouths don't get fed
Nebraska gon' win

Timmy Armstrong is good for a pick or two but as long as it isn't a 5 TO game like last year brasky should be just fine

Yeah, no way Michigan State's 16375th ranked paper tiger D can withstand the offensive barrage of Nebraska. They did score 31 on powerhouse McNeese St after all.

Nebraska 100
Michigan State -20

Dr. Shats Basoon

Closed mouths don't get fed
Aye dog aye, direct your jests at whoever said that last year.

Point is brasky has ran for over 5.5 ypc against MSU the last three years

Sparty beaten three retards and lost by 20 to Oregon
Brasky has beaten 4 retards and 1 decent team

In the MSU game against Oregon, ducks ran for 4.5 ypc

I see no reason why brasky won't be able to run on MSU
If it turns into a shootout (it won't doe) I like Nebraska's odds

Then they will rattle off some wins and get shit housed by Bucky badger

Sticking with Oregon for 3 quarters in Eugene is 10,000 times better than beating mediocre Miami at home by 10. Michigan State has looked dominant in every quarter outside of the 4th quarter in Eugene. Nebraska looked like trash against a FCS team. HMMMMM

Nebraska fan logic.

don't bother brah. they only analyze games in terms of their last matchup with the team or the transitive property. with a pinch of thinly veiled homerism.

That dominance is against top ramen competition

I'm not saying brasky going to run away with it but I do think they are gonna win

Hmmm I guess we aren't allowed to think a team is going to win a game?

How else are you supposed to analyze a matchup?
Seriously, what other way can you compare two teams?

Nebraska's win over miami is comparable to Michigan State's loss to Oregon
I don't think you can say MSU's loss is without a doubt more impressive then Nebraska's win
I mean props to Sparty for sticking around for 3 quarters and they did do well. but they play 4 quarters. they lost by 19 pts

Should I fire up NCAA 2014 to evaluate the depth chart?

Michigan State's defense is not a paper tiger this year because everyone knows they are not good.

I am really worried about Cook and Lippett tearing our secondary apart. The 5'11" (that's extremely generous, he's like 5'9" tops) Josh Mitchell (who may not be 100%) vs. 6'3" Lippett. I don't know, you tell me.

Linebackers gon' get destroyed.

We keep it somewhat close only because Bo seems to know how to coach vs. Michigan State and win games and/or keep it close despite being -5 in turnover margin.

I'll say 34-24 MSU.

Clapgate!

The Detroit News

On the Big Ten teleconference Tuesday, Pelini suggested his center and quarterback were having trouble with exchanges because Michigan State players were clapping their hands in an effort to confuse the Huskers' offense.

I had pointed out very early in the game that Michigan State was clearly timing our clap count and we needed to go silent count. They has 2-3 plays in the first quarter alone where they were in the backfield so fast that they looked offsides. MSU clearly saw something on film with our clap count that they could exploit. We never alter our snap count when using the clap so it isn't shocking. It's funny how the game completely turned on offense when Nebraska went to a silent count (starting with Ryker Fyfe's first drive).

Michigan State had a few plays where they clapped on defense, but it looked like one of their own defensive signals to check out of a blitz, not any sort of attempt to simulate the snap. They clearly saw something they could exploit, but only in terms of timing the snap, not trying to simulate it or trick Nebraska. This honestly sounds like Bo trying to cover up his nephew's horrible mistakes in clutch situations. If we seriously thought Michigan State was trying to confuse Nebraska's offense by simulating the snap count, wouldn't we have, you know, done something about it during the game?

Hopefully this gets Nebraska out that stupid ass clap count thing though. Beck installed that with Martinez the game after he saw Ohio State do it the year we got our ass kicked in Columbus. He doesn't understand why Ohio State does it. We never alter the snap count using the clap count. We might fake a clap in a super exaggerated way but in order for it to be effective, you need to vary the count while actually clapping. In that MSU game, had Nebraska used a freeze call just once where we clapped and no one moved, MSU would have jumped offsides and never would have tried timing up the snap again.

Lacking attention to detail =/= other teams trying to screw with you.

Sorry those claps were not to move their line around. They were to simulate the snap count, which is against the rules. That said, we should have adjusted sooner. Also, I agree the knew our snap count.

I remember Michigan State clapping to check out of a blitz from previous games. Just like the clap count on offense, it is a useful non-verbal audible signal that is easily heard over crowd noise. There is no way they were doing it on purpose. Every time they did it, the player who did it (usually #43), did the same thing, checked out of his blitz. I would assume the clap is to alert the defensive end to adjust his responsibility to press the outside shoulder of the OT since the blitz is no longer coming from there.

Could that clap have tricked Pelini into snapping it early? Sure, I have no reason to not believe that. Was Michigan State doing it intentionally? Absolutely not. There is no reason for Michigan State to simulate the snap count and even if they were, would they really do it via a player lined up beyond the tackle?

Even IF Michigan State was doing this on purpose (they weren't), who looks worse... the team simulating the snap count or the team dumb enough to not change their snap count until the 4th quarter and then complaining about it after? It was very clear that Michigan State was all over our snap count from very early in the game, someone in the coaches box upstairs has to see that and alert Beck to switch to a silent count. Or if Pelini is hearing Michigan State's claps and snapping early, that should be brought up after the 1st or 2nd time it happened, not after the 4th. This just makes us look incompetent.

I wonder how that game would have gone if Nebraska had gone to a silent count early. Probably doesn't change the outcome, but there is no coincidence that once the offense went to a silent count, the pass protection immediately shored up and the offense started moving.

@Brick is right though, Nebraska should have won that game anyway. Hovey ran the wrong route, Armstrong panicked and instead of working back towards the other side of the field where he had two wide open receivers, he just threw it to... wherever :dunno:

Well, 38-17 over Northwestern is better than I thought it would be. But, what a frustrating first half of football that was. The o-line is putrid, but the substitutions did seem to help. On paper, the next two games look like easy home wins (Rutgers and Purdue). After that, the games at Wisconsin and against Minnesota are probably going to decide the division.

BTW, that documentary on Brook Berringer was awesome...made me cry.

Same. That documentary was really hard to watch. We lost a good one way too early there.

Game was pretty meh. Northwestern doesn't seem to know how to play two halves a football and luckily, Nebraska's good half was far better than Northwestern's good half. Pretty weak offensive game plan from Beck, glad we went back to the run in the second half and stuck with it. Replacing the entire right side of the OL did help, I hope those guys get the start next week. It was night and day when they were in vs when they came out.

I would hope we are past that, but yea...we haven't had our one "chokejob" game of the year yet. But, I really don't see us losing any of our home games. Wisconsin is a toss-up..If it's a day game, I think we win. If it's at night, we probably lose.

This or the Purdue game would be the fucktard game that we should win but find a way to Beck ourselves to a loss.

Rutgers being an 11am game seems like one of those games we could just totally sleep walk through for 55 minutes before realizing they are Rutgers and we are Nebraska.

We are perfectly set up for an 11-1 regular season this year but recent history just can't help me escape the nightmare that we are just going to derp the shit out of one of these games.
