the NHL Thread

Don't the Devils still control his rights, so even if he wanted to come back to the NHL, a team would have to trade for him

Until April 15, 2018, the Devils control his rights since all NHL teams would need to approve his return and the Devils would block any move. On April 15, he turns 35. Under NHL rules, he would become a u restricted free agent.

We should change this to the goblue and Irishman talk about Flyers thread

I don't post much cause there's really only 1 or 2 fans of a given team and most mid season discussion is about your team. Ain't nobody care about Oduya off waivers. As Kella pointed out unless you're a Flyers fan then there seems to be plenty of youll. But maybe only 2. Then playoffs roll around and the thread gets going again. We all get to post about the next great Washington playoff disaster. But the lack of CRAWFORD! chants is killing the thread. Hawks aren't good enough to mock.

While I am a Flyers fan, I watch whomever is on most weeknights unless we have something else going on. I'd love to talk more about the rest of the league, but I also don't want to be screaming into the void if no one else wants to talk.

Anyway, the deadline passed and the Rangers sent Ryan McDonagh and JT Miller to Tampa Bay today. In the past week, they've helped Boston, Tampa Bay, and New Jersey. I'm not saying it's about the Flyers, but I could swear they are going to do whatever they can to help all the teams the Flyers might play this post-season. Fuck the Rangers, by the way. Aside from Lundquist, they can get fucked.

Yeah Rangers went full fire sale. They got plenty for Nash but got all horned up with the deal making and allowed themselves to be screwed in the Tampa deal. Sure they got some prospects but I would have thought they should have been able to get more for the pair they gave up. Pretty sure Boston goes out in the first round with Nash and then he moves on. Boston is a good team, they're just a one line team. I'm not sure old man Nash fixes that.

Winnipeg did decent to get Stastny IMO. Vegas did this neat thing where they somehow helped make the Penguins better for basically nothing. Paying 40% of Brassard's salary so maybe the Jets didn't get him? WTF? Then gave Detroit a bunch of picks cause they'll get bored with all the picks they have already.

Predators got Ryan Hartman from Chicago in a move that left both fan bases confused and disappointed. My favorite commentary on this trade was on Reddit where someone wrote: "Ryan Hartman is Ryan Hartman. But a late first round pick could be anything. It could even be Ryan Hartman!"

I don't know a got damn thing about Hartman. All I know is the 30th pick in this year's draft wasn't going to help the Preds win the cup. Poile thinks this guy can help. I sure as shit trust in him after his track record on most trades.

Hartman was drafted 30th in the draft in 2013. Explains the joke above. I don't know much about him either. Seems a decent mid/bottom 6 forward. At 24 he could possibly develop into a little more still. He's had some good numbers at times for Chicago but has a reputation for dumb penalties. Which makes him a natural fit in Nashville. I'm not really sure where he slots in though. Obviously he's a depth guy for the playoff run and might force someone out of the 3rd or 4th line. He's also a RFA at the end of the year so Poile sees him as a part of the future in Nashville and said that yesterday.

Josi just picked up his 5th assist and Hartman got his 1st goal as a Pred to take 6-5 lead. Crazy game. 0-0 after the 1st.

Pred/Jets game was nuts. That slap pass for the game winner is a @GatorTD wet dream. Winnipeg's top line a combined -7. Neither goalie was particularly great but Rinne did come up with one last save when he had to. Crazy how these 2 teams light each other up.

In a game that will likely prove completely meaningless the Pens are getting skull drug by Boston 8-3 after 2 periods. I realize that Murray is out but Pittsburgh couldn't seem less interested in defense. I think they said that they've already given up something like 15 high danger chances. Again almost surely a meaningless game as both teams are pretty much locks for the playoffs. Though the Pens might be playing their way into being the road team in every round. And, of course, all you Flyers fans are looking more and more like the you'll enjoy home ice for at least a round if not more.

It's a new month, might as well be a new season for the Flyers.

Right now, whatever the Flyers do, at least to me, they are playing with house money. I didn't expect them to be at this place in the standings at the beginning of the year, and I still don't believe in the goalie situation, but you never know what will happen in the playoffs.

Preds with another late comeback rally to win in OT. Crazy how many they've had lately.
They need to not hit the snooze button in the 2nd period like the seem to pretty regularly. I'm sure its hard to be on your game all the time for 82 games. Still it's nice to see they usually, eventually, just say "fuck it we're better than them" and just turn it on. Would be nice if they just put teams away more often though. Here lately its been a luxury to have the depth they do and rotate a lot of guys. And still win.

Yeah that shit won't last forever I'm sure. Can't expect to do that in the playoffs but it is nice to have the confidence that you can come back.

Seattle already crossed the 30,000 mark for season ticket reservations within 48 hours. Am excite to finally have a winter sport back in this region.

I saw where if Seattle gets approved, they would join the Pacific, meaning Edmonton and Calgary would move to the Central and Colorado would move to the Pacific. Vancouver would be pissed but fuck them anyway.

Never seen refs get so involved with stopping a fight. They were both bear hugging them to get them apart.

I guess because the game was over?

I caught the highlights of the Flyers/Bruins. Didn't look at the stats so no idea how it actually unfolded but that's a pretty brutal way to go from at least a point to none. Marchand is a killer.

Preds drug Anaheim for 2 periods and then went into the prevent D for the whole 3rd. Anaheim pushed and as much as I hate those fuckers their top guys are tough to keep from making an impact. Still Rinne was a boss and I was glad to see the Preds put the final nail in the coffin before Anaheim could pull Gibson.

Flyers had a lot of chances to get a lead in the game. Unfortunately, they are sloppy clearing the puck and good teams make you pay for it.
