"Race Recap"
Hal Needham & Burt Reynolds did the right thing by putting Bryan Dehn behind the wheel of their 2nd car to try and get it back into the top 25 in owners points, but #27 Benny Parsons earns his 1st top 5 of the season not allowing them to do so, but they are now only 26 points off from the cut off point for those provisionals. #28 Bobby Allison finished 2nd today and #11 Darrell Waltrip finished 11th allowing Allison to make up some points and is now just 17 points back in the season point standings with just 5 races to go. A not so good run by #2 Dale Earnhardt pushed him back a bit and sits a distant 3rd in points 348 back. There was 2 cautions on the day for 10 laps and 8 different drivers exchanged the lead 14 times during the race

"#23 Bryan Dehn's Day"
My 3rd win of the season. If only I hadn't gotten tore up last week at Dover. I'm back up to 8th in the season points standings, but another bad race and I could be out of the top 10 still. I don't know what was wrong with the #23 Nub's & LeRoy's Chevy where I couldn't make it into the field, but I can't be gracious enough to get a shot to drive the #22 Skoal Bandit Pontiac. Then be able to put the car into victory lane is truly an experience that I would never have though could happen.

Interesting note about the 1981 season. Only 12 drivers, in real life, competed in all 31 events. Right now, I count 16 drivers who have competed in all 26 races, so far, in your simmed season.

15 has. Me, Childress, Bouchard & Yarborough out of the 15 in mine that ran them all that didn't in real life off the top of my head. So that means I Have 1 guy that was to have ran them all that failed to qualify a race. McDuffie maybe?

I have 30ish driver that try to qualify for nearly if not all the races which is was more than would have in real life. Guys like Harvey, Balough, Barrett, Gordon, Hylton & Ogden that I can think of

The interesting note for me is out of the 11 guys (+ the 2 that started 57) that have run all 58 races so far. The King is the only 1 to not have won a race. Still sitting at 190.

#64 Tommy Gale was running in the top 5 all day until that last race caution with 30 laps to go. In the process this put #23 Bryan Dehn as the lone car on the lead lap after #33 Harry Gant & #28 Bobby Allison had dominated the race. With a pit road penalty this put the half of the field on the tail end of the lead lap and allowing Dehn to coast to the victory after not leading a lap until the pit stops had started. As far as the season points standings are concerned #28 Bobby Allison re-assumes the point lead by just 3 points over #11 Darrell Waltrip with 4 races left to go in the season. There was 3 cautions for 15 laps during the race and only 4 different drivers exchanged the lead 6 times.

"#23 Bryan Dehn's Day"
This was one of the toughest, yet most fun races I have ever been a part of win or loose, but I am super excited that I was able to get into victory lane for the 2nd week in a row. People were pushing me around all day and I am very tired and sore from having to work this track and my competitors all day long. Things are finally starting to go my way except for my qualifying efforts. I have been concentrating so hard on running solid laps and trying to stay out of trouble that my lap speeds and aggressiveness has taken a back seat. Last week when I thought I wasn't going to make the race was a bit of a wake up call and I need to ensure that I can make each and every race, but at the end of the day it's not where you start that brings home the money, it's where you finish and so far that seems to be improving enough to finish this season strong and work on carrying that over to next year and battle the top guys for a championship.

With the two sophomore drivers in #90 Jody Ridley & #23 Bryan Dehn taking each other out and the car problems of #28 Bobby Allison the race was still left up in the air all race between #11 Darrell Waltrip, #33 Harry Gant, #44 Terry Labonte and #67 Buddy Arrington to take home the checkered flag. Arrington get's the job done for the 2nd race this season winning the less prestigious of the two races at Darlington and Charlotte. With #28 Bobby Allisons major misfortunes the 3 point lead he had over #11 Darrell Waltrip in the season points standings were sure to be gone and replaced with a big deficit in which took place as Waltrip takes back over the lead with a 138 point cushion. There was 4 cautions on the day and all, but 1 were the result of that big wreck on lap 61 that took out nearly half of the field with drivers having engine problems late to bring out the rest of them. There is some not so good rumors from the infield care center that #42 Kyle Petty may have been seriously injured in the wreck when he took a shot to the drivers door by #12 Tim Richmond. It is all hear say and there has been no official word on the extent of his injuries or if they are going to keep him from being behind the wheel of the STP Buick for any future races. Only 9 different drivers lead a lap, but they exchanged them 32 times during the race.

"#23 Bryan Dehn's Day"
Started on the pole and lead the race early. I dropped back a little bit after that restart and worked my way back up to 2nd place. I was content to just sit and ride behind Ridley which I have had some issues with in the past with us battling out for the rookie of the year last season, but never did I think he would pull such a move while leading and no only take himself out, but half of the field with us. It was a devastating wreck for many drivers, but on my end nothing will compare to the roll over I had at Talladega, but anyway. I guess I shouldn't talk because I have made many stupid mistakes all season. 3 races left and I am going to push the car to the limits and find a way to get into victory lane some more.

"NASCAR Winston Cup Series News & Notes"

There was word after the race at Charlotte that #42 Kyle Petty had been injured during the massive wreck on lap 61 of the race, but the extent of the injuries were not released until right now. Kyle has broken his left arm and 3 ribs during the drivers side door shot he took and will be unable to finish out the last 3 races of the season just a couple week removed from having to purchase another car after he failed to qualify at Martinsville. With the #42 team on the bubble in the owners points standings in the top 25 by only 143 points the team has been put into a tough situation. Under other circumstances they would probably pack up and work on making a return at Daytona in 1982, but being in the top 25 is a huge deal. So the team sent out some feelers about acquiring a driver to finish out the season in the #42 STP Buick. One driver that had had some slight rumors of being disgruntled with his is owner is current "Rookie of the Year" points leader, Joe Ruttman. Joe actually came up to Kyle and expressed his interest in joining the team to finish out the season trying to help them stay in the top 25 and helping his cause to try and stay ahead of Morgan Shepherd and win the Rookie of the Year title. So the deal was done and Joe Ruttman will finish out the season in the #42 car while Bob Senneker will try to run some races in the #6 car owned by J.D. Stacy. With #6 team firmly in the top 25 in owners points it's a butt to put in the seat until Stacy can find a new driver for the 1982 season.

"Race Recap"
It's was a battle out there today with many drivers with little to no patience with the driver in front of them causing many mix ups and close calls through out the race. #11 Darrell Waltrip looked to have this race in hand, but a late race wreck by a lapped car gave the victory to #33 Harry Gant which also won the spring race here and has his only pole at The Rock last season. As far as the season points standings go every driver has now been eliminated from contention except #11 Darrell Waltrip and #28 Bobby Allison, but with another DNF for Allison Waltrip leads by 262 points with 2 races to go and seemingly has it all, but locked up after Allison had dominated the middle portions of the season with 7 wins total and 6 top 2 finishes in a row including 5 of those 7 victories. Waltrip only has 2 victories on the season, but 14 top 3's has been more than enough to put him in the position he is in now. #44 Terry Labonte moved into 3rd place in the standings over taking #2 Dale Earnhardt and Labonte trials Waltrip by 476 points. There was 8 cautions for 32 laps and 8 different drivers each exchanged the lead 10 times during the race.

"#23 Bryan Dehn's Day"
I don't know how I finished in the top 5 today. The first half of the race was a good one where I was able to stay in the top 10 and have tough battle on each and every lap, but once I made that mistake to go a lap down it seemed that every car that I was around I got into trouble with. Lots of cars were pushing people around today and I came out of a couple bad situations without causing any more issues, but getting back onto the lead lap late and with the amount of caution flags that flew I was able to stay on the lead lap with a busted up car to give me a 4th place finish.

The site I was hosting my pictures on deleted all my files. I was inactive for almost 2 years and come back like I used to and now they say it was inactive. heh, ok.... So in not so many words they say I have to make it an actual website which I am going to do so I don't get them deleted. That's fine too, but it will take me some time to upload all the pictures again then make it a semi-functional website. As if the offseason isn't long enough with the painting of 200+ cars and rating them all and other things. I'm going to re-upload backwards so I can get Atlanta's race up (100% finished) and the season finally which I was planning on running Monday, but might wait til Friday now.

yay for more work.......

"Race Recap"
#90 Jody Ridley wins the race today, but #11 Darrell Waltrip locks up the battle with one more fight left to run. #28 Bobby Allison has dominated all season, but when you can't finish all your races you can't win the big prize at the end of the season. #42 Joe Ruttman finished 4th today locking up the Rookie of the Year title over #5 Morgan Shepherd which has been coming along strong these past few races, but ends up short with one race left to go as well. How event full with the road course race at Riverside be next week? Waltrip has been really good at road courses so even with a good run today by Allison it would have been really hard to gain back the lead and win the championship. Ruttman won the last race at Riverside so the forgone conclusion just took place a week early it seems from recent history. There was 2 cautions on the day for 8 laps and 13 different drivers exchanged the lead 32 different times during the race.

"Video Recap"

"#23 Bryan Dehn's Day"
Only thing I have to race for right now is pride and a solid finish so I can try and carry it into next year. Well the one thing that has been causing me bad finishes my whole career so far is not being able to get around cars that are pitting. Once I figure this issue out I will be fine I think as long as I'm still around when that happens.
