Georgia Signs First Recruit

Georgia got recruiting off on a good track by signing 4 star Offensive Tackle Dave Williams. Williams hales from Greater Northdale Florida. He also had offers from Marshall, Arizona, and Florida. Williams stands 6-5 271 so he has decent size but will more than likely need a redshirt year to add some bulk. When asked why he chose Georgia he stated, "It was the bulldog UGA, once I saw him on my recruiting trip I knew I wanted to be a bulldog. On a side note, the guys showed me a pretty good time after the big win over Wisconsin."

Nebraska has signed its first recruit prior to what will be the biggest recruiting weekend of the year.

4* #2 G Tyrell Lacey from South Plainfield, NJ. 6'2" 275lbs. 79 OVR (+1). Really good run blocker. I have a ton of OL depth, 13 OL on roster and just 3 graduate so he's depth but 6 OL will graduate next year so he'll be vital depth. I only have 12 scholarships this year so I'm going to have to be careful.

Nebraska has 10 recruits coming this weekend although I'm pretty far behind on a few of them. Big weekend vs rival Missouri.

I think I will be using the athlete as a two way player after his red shirt freshman year.. Playing a Danthony Thomas role on Offense and playing some free safety.

The Huskers have added 3 more recruits after the huge recruiting weekend against Missouri. Less than anticipated but still a good haul.

#9 5* WR Jovon Atkins from Brownsville, Texas. 6'1" 204 lbs. 80 OVR (+5). Atkins has a chance to be special IF I manage to find someone who can throw the ball to him. 93 SPD, 93 ACC, 80 JMP, great pass catch abilities as well as an ability to catch the ball. I'm deep at WR, but he has a chance to do some good things for me. Need a QB badly though.

#4 4* CB David King from Forest Hill, Texas. 5'9" 165 lbs. 78 OVR (+5). 92 SPD, 92 ACC, great coverage ratings although not very good press ratings so he may be more of a nickel player.

#105 3* JUCO SO CB James Parker from Moab, Utah. 5'10" 169 lbs. 75 OVR (+4). 90 SPD, 93 ACC, really good coverage ratings especially press and surprisingly high tackle ratings. I originally wasn't going to offer this guy since I'm fairly deep at CB, knew I'd sign King and have a shot to sign 2 more CB but you can never have too many corners in this OD.

That leaves just 8 scholarships remaining for Nebraska, we'll see what comes of them. I have about 14 guys left on my list, some I'm pretty far out on. I'm surprised I didn't get 2 or 3 more commits this week though, huge recruiting weekend and I've got a big lead on a few of these guys but nothing to show for it.

With 5 commitments, the Volunteers have 10 scholarships left to hand out. Current head coach Jim Tressel take over in week 2 but is unable to pull scholarships offered before he took over. 13 scholarships have been offered but let's hope those 3 young men offered by the last staff find new homes.

(#943) 3* - CB - Albert George, 6-0, 193 from Roma, TX
(#1036) 3* - OT - Dan Hadley, 6-4, 324 from Sugar Land, TX

Frogs get to 7 commits with 8 open scholarships available. Currently, the TCU class ranks 19th in the country. There is one huge recruit left on the HornedFrogs' radar, 5* OT, Erik Clarke from Wylie, TX. There is tough competition for the highly touted recruit as the Razorbacks of Arkansas and the RedRaiders of Texas Tech are also high on Clarke's list. It will definitely be a battle down the stretch for his signature.

That tackle is a badass. I couldn't make up any ground on you early on. So I had to drop his ass.

@NavyHog is currently #1 on him and TTU still has a visit next week. I have the most bonus points though. I just hope to get him into offseason unsigned and I'll like my chances

My recruiting class is going to suck. I'm still on the same 4 as before and all of a sudden the CPU has stormed from behind to take the lead on guys I was leading by a thousand points. I only had 12 scholarships to begin with it and I'll be lucky to sign 4 more.

Luckily I have 42 Freshmen and Sophomores on this team and I'll have 20 scholarships next season.

@NavyHog very interesting that you've signed one player in-state.

IRL Arkansas produces 6-10 legit D1 players a year so historically the Hogs have always had to go out of state to recruit with Texas being the main target and a few of the SEC states for "onesies and twosies". The last couple of years they have signed quite a few kids from Florida (which is what Bielema did at Wisconsin) and other than the Gators the Hogs have more players from Florida than any other SEC school.

As far as the game goes that is interesting. I didn't even notice what state they were from as I was recruiting them. We all get so many points for conference prestige that we can pretty much go anywhere to get guys.

LSU signs four more recruits. The two Florida guys are mainly there to gain a foothold in the state. The other two are going to be redshirted due to solid depth at those positions.

+11 DT Wowza. A little light in the ass at 257 lbs, but I'm sure he will get in the weight room.

This year of recruiting is the perfect representation of actual Nebraska recruiting. There aren't recruits in Nebraska or Iowa or Kansas, I have to go into Texas to recruit but the really good players in Texas go to the two major Texas schools or the SEC West programs so I'm picking up what is left. Otherwise I have to sneak into a traditional mediocre recruiting area to pluck out the 1 or 2 talented recruits that are there.

2 good Texas recruits, a good WR and a good CB and then a recruit from Utah who is a JUCO SO and a recruit from New Jersey. Recruiting is going to be a nightmare for me even when I get up to 6*, which there is no guarantee I will if I finish the season 8-5. Need a good scouting department and some "escorts".

Still couldn't get any recruits and fell behind on 2 guys I had led. Very good chance I fall behind on another after he takes a visit to Utah this week. This class is a disaster. I maybe, mayyyyybe get to 8.

Well Nebraska added a couple more recruits, not great recruits but solid depth.

4* #22 DE Shannon Walters from Chesterfield, Missouri. 6'2" 291 pounds. 75 OVR (+3). This guy is actually really interesting, he has 89 acceleration, 89 finesse move, 80 block shed and 88 pursuit. You'd think with ratings like that he'd be a bit better rated but the 72 speed and relatively low hit power/tackle ratings probably weigh him down. I may move him inside to DT, he should be better there and the speed will matter less.

4* #18 G Alex Simpson from Bloomingdale, Florida. 6'4" 298 pounds. 71 OVR (-1). I didn't initially plan on signing this guy but after all these other recruits told Nebraska no, so I offered him late and he signed. 75 PBK, 80 RBK, 75 IBL. He'll just be a backup. I have 13 OL on roster, 3 graduate this year and 6 graduate next year so some depth will always be nice.

I somehow fell to 3rd on a couple recruits I led all year on. Not ideal.
