It was a dream first season under Coach Slothrop for the Texas A&M, as the Aggies went 14-0, winning their first conference title since 1998 and their first national title since 1939. Texas A&M played like a juggernaut all season, winning every game by double digits. The Aggies were powered by their high octane offense, which finished in the top five in scoring offense, total offense, passing offense, and red zone offense, passing touchdowns, and rushing touchdowns and the top 15 in rushing offense. Quarterback Nick Starkel flourished under the up-tempo spread attack brought to College Station by Slothrop, finishing with 5,445 yards passing and 49 touchdowns, both new school marks. Starkel was able to spread the ball around to different receivers, with Quartney Davis, Christian Kirk, and Jhamon Ausbon all finishing with over 1,000 yards receiving, and all setting new school records (yards, receptions, and receiving touchdowns, respectively). The rushing attack for the Aggies was no slouch either, with running back Trayveon Williams rushing for 1,508 yards and 18 touchdowns and running back Kendall Bussey finishing with 843 yards and a school record 22 touchdowns on the ground. Defensively, the Aggies were not dominant overall, but fielded one of the best rushing and red zone defenses in the country and also finished in the top 20 in takeaways. Texas A&M will look to defend their title next season thanks to 15 returning starters and an incoming top 25 recruiting class.

The Texas A&M Aggies followed up their first remarkable season under Coach Slothrop with a second similar season, repeating the results of 2014 with an undefeated season, a Big 12 championship, and a national championship. Once again, the team was led by the offense, who led the country in scoring offense, total offense, passing offense, and red zone offense. Quarterback Nick Starkel once again threw for over 5,000 yards with the help of a talented receiving corps led by Biletnikoff Award winner Clyde Chriss and Jhamon Ausbon, who set the school record with 1,415 receiving yards. The Aggies were also no slouch on the ground, again finishing with a top 15 rushing offense thanks to the two pronged attack of Trayveon Williams and Kendall Bussey, who combined for 2,446 yards rushing and 40 touchdowns. The defense took a significant step back yardage wise, but came through in the clutch all year, finishing with the top red zone defense in the country and first in takeaways with 30. The unit also finished with the top rush defense in the country, holding opposing offenses under 100 yards a game. The defense was led by perhaps the best linebacking corps in the country, with all three starters finishing as Butkus Award finalists. Texas A&M finishes the year with 28 wins in a row, placing them in the top 15 winning streaks in NCAA history.
