Let's start this thread off with good news...

I'm fairly pleased with the recruiting haul Tennessee got this year. Very surprising. Maybe we'll beat Florida once a decade now.

Im curious to see what Pruitt can do with a defense not littered with future NFL players. Bama and FSU have been pretty good for him. UGA while no slouch is not on the same level talent wise.

No doubt UGA isn't at that level personnel wise. But I don't see how this can't be better for UGA than Grantham and Martinez were. Martinez was just "how is defense formed?" and Grantham was constant square peg in a round hole IMO.

I'd say in the last decade UGA has FAR exceeded FSU with talent on defense. He'll do just fine. Last year or two? Maybe on par with each other. Massive, huge LOL at putting FSU and Bammer on same level with defensive talent.

Lets hear your criteria for LOL at FSU and Bama on the same level.

i wouldn't engage uga fans in conversation about football, it has been a tough road for them, and they refuse to get rid of Richt. As long as they can beat UF when UF is down I am happy with them.

This kind of comment is the exact reason this year's NCG was just the worst. FSU got to face the SEC's luckiest product, not their best. 15 years of mediocrity and all of a sudden they get to talk down to SEC teams again. I was going to make a comment about how all you FSU assholes still live in the nineties before I noticed FSUPrime's avatar is a fucking Oasis album...maximum lolz

*sigh* And to think I rooted for FSU in the NCG too, only because SEC homerism is for assholes. I still don't know that it'd be worse then having Auburn fans gloat, but at least those motherfuckers would be in the RIGHT GODDAMNED THREAD. :D

My criteria for FSU not being on par with Bama is what I would call a rational human being's perspective on the last decade of college football. Perhaps I should have quantified it by that metric, but it doesn't matter because FSU people always find a way to interject themselves into conversations concerning college football importance, because the 90's gave them (and some other assholes in Florida) something to talk about for the rest of infinity.

pretty sure people were curious about the FSu and UGA comparison lol, not the FSU and Bama comparison.

UGA is the gold standard of mediocre.

sec sec sec

"2010, Yet another fourth-quarter loss. The University of Central Florida had an amazing run in 2010, but watching Georgia cough a up a loss to a Conference USA team at the Liberty Bowl was still pretty rough."

And so far as this absolute facepalm of a comment goes, as of 9/2013 UGA had 5 more active players in the NFL than FSU did. Jesus Christ. He'll do the same thing he did at FSU: Play with a defense full of future NFL players, except at a school with more history, more fans, more money, an entire state to recruit from, and isn't located in Tallahassee, Florida.

Y'all keep this up and FSU might usurp Ohio State as non-SEC team that I find most aggravating/hilarious.

You nailed it. Learn't my lesson good! And if that's the ONLY thing in that post you found the chutzpah to respond to, I don't even need to be conversating with you anymore, because you've tacitly accepted defeat.

Someone should start an FSU thread (jk I'm sure there are already, like, a million of those). Anyways, anyone want to talk about SEC football? That's all I'll be doing from here on out.

Yeah, Mr. T, I was pretty surprised by Tennessee's class, gotta say, as was I with the zero-hour improvements with ours, pretty stoked we got Pruitt. I think he and some of the other hires resulted directly in our classes' improvement. Grantham was a paper-tiger, he was liked at first because he 1.) was not Willie Martinez and 2.) he reminded us all of Van Gorder, but turned out to have none of the actual production. He also lacked that incredible, sensual, totally creepy mustache:

Don't stare into it too long.

Except we aren't talking about the last decade. We are discussing the last couple of years. So by what rationale do you claim FSU and Bama being on the same level is LOL worthy? Is it stats? Draft picks? What?

I've heard everything from weed to home invasion to domestic violence. Hopefully it's just weed and he'll be suspended a game or two. If it's one of the others it would not surprise me if Pinkel takes a bit more severe course of action.

Yeah. In the SEC a home invasion is good for a two game suspension, at minimum!

So DGB is about to be kicked out of Mizzou.

Watch Belichick take him next April.

It is really a pretty sad turn of events. The kid was from a very difficult background, but seemingly was doing well under the guidance of his adoptive parents. Part of the reason he chose Mizzou was to stay close to them which, presumably, would help him to stay on the straight and narrow. It doesn't seem to have worked very well.

Yeah, no way he gets kicked off the team. Probably 1-2 game suspension. I'd just go ahead and suspend him the entire non-con, but that won't happen.

Sunday night, the victim and her roommate, also an 18-year-old female MU student, visited with the reporting officer at the police station and declined to press charges, saying they feared retaliation should Green-Beckham get arrested. The victim told police she was “afraid of the media and community backlash since Green-Beckham is a football player for the University of Missouri and is possibly going to the NFL draft soon.” The victim said she feared property damage to her apartment and “didn’t want to deal with the mental stress.” Both the victim and her roommate filled out decline of prosecution forms.

One of the texts read: “Dorial was wrong in every way and you have every right to be furious. I’m not sticking up for him but football really is all he has going for him and pressing charges would ruin it for him completely. … I can’t do this anymore. Now he’s hurting my friends not just me. I really am sorry you’re in this position and I never meant for this to happen.”

Kicking him off the team is the wrong decision anyway. I understand it's taking a hard stance and not putting up with that crap but do you really think taking away the one thing that takes up the most of this guy's time and the thing he loves the most is a good idea? Probably not.

DGB's previous two fuckups were weed related, which I personally do not give two shits about. This is obviously bad tho. Also, the texts telling the girl not to press charges came from DGB's girlfriend, not the corches. It's still a pretty fucked up situation all around.

I don't think he'll be kicked off, though I won't be mad with the university if that's the decision. I just don't get why Dorial is such a colossal dingus.

No one should care about drug use by a college aged kid? I sure would be nice if the coaches cared enough about these kids to care about that, and do something about it.

I agree with solidpit that no one should really give a shit about drug-related offenses.

I don't agree with that. I do think that there is absolutely no reason being cited (or arrested, since they still do that in some backwater, BFE locations) for pot possession should be treated any different than an MIP alcohol citation.

The fact that some coaches/shools still would freak out and punish the pot way more severely is fucking retarded.

What kind of drugs are we tom bout?

Not all drugs, I'm just talking about the pot arrests. I also don't really care about an MIP as long as he wasn't driving. It doesn't really matter, since DGB (deservedly) got kicked off the team.

Well you just said "drug related offenses", so I responded to that.

Personally, I would rather my kids didn't use marijuana ever, or alcohol until they are out of school. However, regardless of how I feel, it is illegal to use marijuana (except in special cases (certain amounts, certain states, certain conditions, etc), and alcohol is illegal until they are 21. Since it's currently illegal, I would hope a coach of my child took such matters seriously, because they can have serious affects my child's life. Getting a police record matters, getting in trouble with your school matters, getting possible felonies matters. I wouldn't want anything to derail my child's future, especially while they are young and in college, so I would appreciate adults that would help them take such matters seriously.

The last time I checked, children don't play college football, men do.
