So cool that Charlie Davies has redefined his game. He's played a poacher role so well this playoffs.

How many Revs in January camp? Lee, Yones are locks - maybe Farrell and Davies too?

This NE/NY game has been awesome, btw.

Yes, both games were really enjoyable. Not particularly strong games, as most games with high stakes tend to fall in terms of quality, but it's hard not to enjoy soccer in a playoff format. Real shame about the away goal rule, though. One of the most frustrating moves made by MLS.

Why all the hate on the away goal rule?
Because, as Murricans, we are not used to the concept of scoring on the road having more weight. It's an acquired taste for us. Me, I like it, and if this was implemented from the start, this wouldn't be an issue.

Why all the hate on the away goal rule?

I think the main reason is hosting the second leg a big enough advantage for the team with the better record? Honestly, I don't think it is.

I'd rather not have it, but I don't think it's that big of a deal.

Also, top 6 teams in each conference make the playoffs next year. It will be structured like the NFL playoffs.

From Facebook. Maybe some of these people are actually jd's circ's, who knows.

Chad ********* Who are the F'tards that came up with the most stupidest ruling on away goals? Unbelievable...

Kb *** Bullshit..that is horrible !! Win and you still go home? Dumbest away goal rule for playoff. It would have been a hell more exciting if gone into overtime!!!!

Emanuel ****** F*** the away goals thing. LA robbed us

Ryan ****** Away goals?! WTH?! That's a horrible tiebreaker! How about best season record or most goals!

Jeff ***** MLS and their playoff format is a joke! Let's make the team with the best regular season record start on the road. What's the benefit of winning during the regular season?

David ******* How is it a playoff if the team that wins doesn't advance? That's fucking stupid.

Anthony ****** Soccer scoring is ridiculously stupid.....

Bradley ******* The MLS needs to change their tie breakers. This "away" tie breaker that decides a teams entire season at a conference championship is phucking stupid.

Richard ****** I just cant stand the MLS Playoff rules, worse in any sport!

Ryan ****** MLS rules are more ass backwards than any set of scoring in the history of sport...???

Nick ****** Does number one seed mean nothing in playoffs?

Troy ******* Soccer a dumb sport! Dumb rules.

Kent *** Screw the Galaxy... Waste of a friggin season

Amanda ******** Total BULLSHIT...Galaxy should be embarrassed.

Jason ***** I just can't understand this playoff system. How does the winning team lose?

Seb ******** LA sucks, what a scripted championship, who the hell wants to see LA vs New England???

I hate to burst your bubble, jd, but they didn't listen. I got my cred and I'm ready to head to the Friday Funeral Media Mixer at The Rockefeller Gastropub in Manhattan Beach.

Congrats Los Angeles, tough luck New England. Think the result would have been different on a neutral field. Not that entertaining of a final to be honest.

Dear Nutopians,

I was wrong. The Galaxy are truly the San Jose State of MLS. Respect. Recognize. Don't cross the line.

Signed,

the Hachiko.

P.S. hail king Landon.

Yeah neither team played particularly well. New England definitely didn't deserve to win. Davies was a non-factor, Lee Nguyen did nothing and had to come off, Shuttleworth was awful. I wasn't really paying attention, but I think Keane got MVP of the game? He was pretty bad, flubbed a number of chances and only got the winner because Tierney didn't hold the line.

Hardly remember Donovan contributing. Really, there was two moments of individual good play (Zardes, Mullins/Tierney) and the rest was trash.

Although the talk was about Donovan and to a lesser extent Keane, I thought the bigger story was the young guys. Lots of future/current prospects in this one - Farrell, Rowe, Mullins, Bunbury, Zardes. Probably quite a few members of Camp Cupcake in this game.

Thrilled with the result, but cot damn that was a boring game. I heart Robbie Keane, and he obviously scored the winner, but no way in hell was the MVP of that game. He was mostly terrible. Zardes was better, as was the entire defense (other Robbie Rodgers making several awful decisions and getting beat).

New England were always going to get the short straw since they are so deep. Don't get protecting Koboashi and Shuttleworth over Diego, Mullins, or Soares.

Charge on!
Strange to start off picking a 37 yr old keeper with the first pick. Would have taken someone who could make a big impact like Mullins. Oh well. :-/

The Mullins guy is Gr8. No opinion anout the others. Macmath wouldve been nice, but even fummier that philly still has 100 gk.
