Australia already has the hardest group schedule, but then factor in that they would likely have to play Brazil in the next round if they manage to advance... yikes

Ghana rated as second hardest schedule, and USA third hardest. Argentina have the easiest, obviously.

Top 5 games of the group stage:
1. Netherlands vs Spain
2. Chile vs Spain
3. Portugal vs Germany
4. USA vs Germany
5. Greece vs Colombia (??) lol

USA is clear-cut #1 on my list but we all know that isn't happening. Will be rooting for Belgium, also.Big fan of their squad. Aside from that, I don't really have too much rooting interest. I have respect for a lot of teams/players but I'll probably change who I pull for day-to-day depending on matchups/situations. France is probably the team I'll pull for the most out of the favorites.

Probably because USA is 10 spots higher on the FIFA rankings. Doesn't take into account that Ghana pwns us.

Benteke is injured, and missing the World Cup. So Belgium's "pair" of strikers is just Lukaku.

Pretend the US has an injured Benteke not on the roster, too.

Also, I don't really think Altidore is all that "big." I mean he certainly looks gigantic compared to the twinks we trot out there along side him, but only in a homo sport like soccer can being 6'1 175 lbs be considered "big." He's probably too small to play CB in the NFL and he doesn't have the speed for that. He's arguably our best athlete and he'd get laughed out of the Combine.

Benteke = 6'3 190 and Lukaku = 6'3 215. That's what I'm tombout.

I'm okay with smaller/quick players too, don't get me wrong... but if you are under 6'0 you should be running a 4.4 or faster and have a great F3Cone score as well.

I just want players who are athletic enough to play an American professional sport other than soccer. Just look at our Olympic athletes or imagine picking a National Team for football and look at the shear athleticism (along with skill/talent) those players would posses. Now look at our soccer team and find me one dude who can play a professional sport other than soccer. Most of them aren't even athletic enough to play Division I college sports in a sport other than soccer. Uggh.

The US will never be as skilled as other national teams, but we really aren't doing all that poorly in the skills department, given the way we approach the game. We've managed to field a team who can all go for a decent kick about... but I can't wait until we field a team of true American professional athletes with similar skill sets to the players we have now.

*Chibob's best example of a superior athlete is 6'2 190lbs and not really that fast. GJGE soccer.

The issue is that football is 75% technical, 25% athleticism.

Neville Southall, Wayne Rooney, David Silva, Lionel Messi, Iniesta are just a few examples which would justify this.

I don't disagree with that, but I still think that's because soccer is at least a decade behind on athletic training. For example, guys like Ronaldo and Bale are certainly superior athletes and they look like Barry Sanders did playing college football in 1988. Soccer has certainly become more and more athletic through the decades, right? The players with the best skills certainly still dominate, but the base level of athleticism increases with each passing year. I also think you don't understand what I'm saying about athleticism either, as Messi and Rooney are certainly very athletic guys and their skills coupled with their athleticism make them world class. Messi's skills wouldn't be so amazing if he was slow and plodding. Remember that F3cone drill is very important to me and Messi probably would have a world class time in that drill. They both run circles around poor athletes.

So in a country like America where our player skills are always going to be capped by our lackluster development, athleticism is the answer.

If Barry Sanders had played soccer from birth, he would have been like Messi but 50lbs heavier and stronger. Good luck pushing him off the ball. LAWD.

That's why we gonna win the world cup before England does.

If Barry Sander played soccer from birth he wouldn't be the same size he was playing football. He'd probably be built more like Eto.

Its like comparing marathon runners and sprinters.

NFL players play continuously for 7 minutes on average, soccer players are running constantly for about 60.
