FIFA 15

It's a fun game, but mostly for the online modes. I've always been a career mode guy, but it's so tough to get into with FIFA. Like all EA games, it's very under developed.

If you manage to not suck, we play together on one team in pro clubs. However if you aren't good then we don't do that and ignore the thread titled "Pro Clubs."

the online modes are fun DESPITE being horribly flawed in some cases and having basic, repeating AI exploits that EA never fixes (the kickoff "glitch" has probably existed since the PS1 games). Where as the glitches and AI exploitations make NCAA/Madden nearly unplayable.

Career mode isn't that bad. It's not the greatest, but it's fun if you are playing it for the first time.

I like that I don't know anything about soccer, I can't tell if the mechanics are jacked up, I just assume most teams in real life do lobbed through balls.

Chose to play as Chicago fire in MLS. Tied in my 2 friendlies, won my first mls match against Chivas and then got blown out by the red bulls. I'm getting more used to the gameplay, but the whole transfer system has me a bit confused

For the transfer system, you buy and sell players from/to other teams.
You have a transfer budget (which is the money you use to buy from other teams) and a payroll (which is the money you use to pay your players). Players without a team are basically free agents, so you just offer them a contract instead of having to buy them.
You can also loan players out or bring players in on loan.

MLS also has a bunch of stupid rules. Our sports leagues are very socialist.

Yeah, but they aren't portrayed in the game, are they?
I haven't used an MLS team in manager mode, but I've read that the designated players, limit on internationals, etc. isn't in the game and the transfer market works the same as in the EPL.

They didn't used to have all the rules in FIFA. I haven't used a MLS team in years though.

Barça and Barça B can both be in the primera, that's how little attention to detail there are with league rules.

PS : in Football Manager, does Athletic Club only sign Basque players?

Theres this good looking young player that is a free agent in Colombia or some such. I offered him a contract and like 2 months have gone by and I've heard nothing. Is there a certain time that contracts can be offered/signed and players can be transferred?

Umm...usually contract offers are only do-able during transfer periods (in FM free transfers are year round depending on the league of course), , but you usually get an email within 5 days of a contract offer as far as I know. However, I've can't remember a time when I've offered a contract during a non transfer period window.

haha, yeah, im still learning. Finally looked at the schedule and noticed the transfer window is still 2 months away, lol. Oh well.

on a gameplay note, i'm finally starting to play a lil better. Beat a middle half of the league team 2-1 with a score in the 91st minute and then tied New York 1-1. My posession numbers have been much better as well.

my likes:

1. visually, game is stunning.
2. satisfaction of a good play is as good as any sports game i've played.
3. difference between bad/good/awesome players is noticeable...which is nice.

complaints:

1. auto-switching of players on defense has me frustrated. This may just be the way it is or it may be an option i can turn off that i haven't found yet and i'm bitching about nothing. I just get frustrated when i'm about to try and make a tackle or something and it switches the character i'm controlling.
2. It seems the ball sticks to the AI's foot like glue however i can get run off the ball extremely easy.

Having fun though and will play it for a while.

You can turn auto switching off or to air only. I use air only. It's in the settings somewhere, I just can't remember where. I know it's in game for sure, but you might also be able to change it in the profile settings or something.

You can shield the ball by using L2 (or whatever the Xbone equivalent is). Using L2+L1 is like extreme ball shielding, you just can't move very fast.

@kella

Swansea is a fun team with a noble trog ST in Gomis

Just look at this magnificent bastard run through a slide tackle from behind without even slowing up. All puber lobbed through balls aside, he's a good trog for holdup play as well.

Also, this was an amazing triumph. You can fast forward to 13:45 for the real show.

Roma and Wales are strong trolling.

its amazing how if you play this at night, it's only messican club teams on offer. A Saturday AM game brings all kinds of fun matchups

Ibarbo/Doumbia LMAO ROMA TROLLIN

Love how Doumbia wears 88.

I also purposely leave Gervinho out because of personal bias. Iturbe/Ibarbo are kind of dopey but good enough when you consider their absurd midfield and Doumbia, aka Black Ronaldo.

Yeah until 16 comes out with a new legitimate cropping of 4* teams, I like Roma at 4.5*. That midfield tears shit up too. Nainggolan and De Rossi take no prisoners.

Speaking of Doumbia, Ivory Coast is fucking awesome as well. Horrible back line but they are sweaty as fuck up front.

My Belgian CDM is playing for Arsenal after being bought from Charleroi SC for 7.5 million squiggles. Charleroi actually had a chance to win the Pro League but I picked up two yellow cards, missed the last match and the team lost. I felt a little bad about that but the chance to play at Arsenal was too good to pass up. It's very early in the season but Arsenal is at the top of the table and we just beat Spurs in a FA Cup match.

Does anyone know what you have to achieve in order to be able to fully edit your player? I'd like to try to do that before the new game comes out (assuming it transfers over from year to year like some of the other career achievements do). I specifically would like to start out with a younger created player than the default starting age.

Fuck this kid. High pressure nonstop and laggy as hell so it was hard to counter. Next touch after this was the final whistle. Eat a dick.

Spamming crosses and long balls was actually the only way Athletic played a few years back. It worked surprisingly well but I do not miss watching those games.

So last night I played this guy using Mexico. YoungSimba_90 or something. He got so, so mad after the first goal that he jumped on the mic to chide me for watching all 3 replays, also dropping the N bomb constantly - which, I don't really care, but he was hispanic

Anyway, he's using Mexico - of course I'm watching all 3 replays. And letting it run all the way back to kickoff. I was also working my way through in-shell peanuts, so I needed a few seconds. All he was doing was passing to Gio and trying to run by me but it wasn't working so he was real mad.

Thus, at the start of the 2nd half I ran by all his players on the kickoff and scored  I don't normally even try to exploit that (outside of clubs) but it was too much to pass up. He's talking a ton of shit at this point, so I started playing keepaway but somehow managed to score a 3rd goal anyway before he quit.

Real charmer, that kid. He accused me of being a "40 year old man" and "why are you still playing". I told him he just got worked by a fat white guy, then I sent him a message saying "another victory for the 1%. Trump 2016"

Fuck these kids man
