Darrik Berg
#320 ( #21 MLB)
72 (+1)
:star::star::star:
Berg is a Hacienda Heights, California product who the coaching staff cant wait to get on campus. Last season the Cowboys had to sign a JUCO MLB to fill a need. Now we get one that we can groom into a monster of the middle. Berg will spend a year redshirting and adding size to his 6'5 frame. Berg will be asked to cover sideline to sideline and has the speed and acceleration (80/91) to do so.

D.J. Hinds
#334 ( #5 SS)
73 (+2)
:star::star::star:
Hinds comes from Pine Hills, Florida and hopes to bring in more teammates from Florida to the beautiful countryside of Wyoming. It will be tough to redshirt Hinds his first year on campus and not let him be a primary backup, but future wise it is in the programs best interest. If his redshirt does get pulled he will see action in the 335 defence which the coaching staff is starting to fall in love with.

T.J. Richwalski
#200 ( #9 QB)
79 (+6)
:star::star::star::star:
gem.png

TJ looks to be one of the higher rated recruits ever to step foot on campus in Wyoming. Cowboys are pretty deep at QB right now but couldn't turn him down. He has a cannon for an arm (96THP/81THA) and decept speed(76). TJ also had offers from Miami and Notre Dame. He will redshirt his first year on campus and then likely back up Charlie Marquart for his senior campaign.

Brandon Russ
#2356 ( #44 FB)
65 (+3)
:star:
Russ will look to fill the void at FB after his redshirt year. Has ok speed and decent hands. Could possibly be moved to TE if needed. Wisconsin boy who is excited about the wide open country of Wyoming.

Phillip Robbins
#642 ( #36 DT)
68 (+0)
:star::star::star:
The best prospect in the state of Wyoming decided to stay put. Lacks any sort of speed and quickness. Will be more of a hole plugger than a pass rusher. With 3 DT's graduating this season, Robbins will be a key reserve after his redshirt year.

Casey McDonald
#1075 (#28 C)
65 (+2)
:star::star::star:
McDonald finds he way to Wyoming from the vacation state of Hawai. Will add decent depth to the OL for the future.

Deau Irby
#77 (#18 WR)
78 (+5)
:star::star::star::star:
top150.png

Wyoming gets another top rated recruit for the passing game in Irby. Great size (6'2, 203) and decent speed (90/89). He was very impressed with the Cowboy's passing game and looks to be a go to reciever after his redshirt year. Also had an offer from Miami but he wanted to be a part of something special in making the Cowboys a national power.

Zach Newby
#485 (#34 T)
67 (-3)
:star::star::star:
Newby comes from near by Missouri and looks to add more depth to the OL. Could find himself in the rotation after a couple years of learning the system.

Kevin Walker
#1314 (#122 CB)
77 (+6)
gem.png

:star::star::star::star:
SOJucoIcon.png

Walker spent a year at JUCO to improve his grades. During this time many schools forgot all about him and Wyoming snuck in and saw how much he had progressed since his high school days. Will likely redshirt and then step in as a starter or nickle back. Has great speed (93/84) and excellent coverage skills needed for the pass happy MWC.

Alex Henry
#788 ( #34 TE)
OVR:67
6'4 245 lbs
:star::star::star:
Henry comes from San Clemente, CA and will have an immediate impact on the Cowboy roster due to poor recruiting in years past. He will likely be the #1 or #2 TE. Small possibility of a quick OL having their dream come true and getting moved to TE#2. Overall, Henry will develop into a decent TE, nothing flashy but he will get the job done.

Jason Robinson
#922 ( #66 CB)
OVR:71 (+4)
5'11 170 lbs
:star::star::star:
Pure coverage corner that will need to work on his tacking during his redshirt year.

Cornelius Wilson
#181 ( #9 OLB)
OVR:73
6'2 208 lbs
:star::star::star::star:
Wilson fills a huge need in the future for the Cowboys. Will be primarily used as a LOLB and play up on the line and also plug holes. Will try and keep him out of situations where he has to be in too much pass coverage. Will more than likely play as a redshirt freshman.

Will Sullivan
#2112 ( #140 T)
OVR:71 (-1)
6'5 270
:star::star:
JRJucoIcon.png

Sullivan comes in from Texas and will be a good depth guy. Academics hindered his chances to come in as a freshman. He didn't perform up to his ability at JUCO but hopefully being in the Cowboy program will help him progress faster. Not sure if he will red shirt or not. Could also possibly be moved to TE or FB with his 74 speed and 98 acc

Leigh Thompson
#2176 ( #181 CB)
OVR:76 (+7)
6'1 190
:star::star:
JRJucoIcon.png
gem.png

Thompson will red shirt during his first season as a Cowboy. He showed good promise at his JUCO in Alabama and really started to improve during his 2nd season with the team. Has great speed (95) and above average cover skills.

Jerome Hall
#547 ( #49 DE)
OVR:81 (+3)
:star::star::star:
SOJucoIcon.png

Hall will come in and provide an immediate impact. Hall is a little undersized(6'2 234) but has the quickness to be a force. Wyoming has had a decent track record with JUCO's in the past and Hall looks to continue that tradition.

Andrew Smith
#387 ( #24 CB)
OVR:70
:star::star::star:
West Virginia product Smith will provide nice depth at CB. Doesn't have the attributes to be a starting corner any time soon but will be a nice nickel corner. Signed with Wyoming over home state West Virginia after realizing that needed to get away from mom.

Kyle Thurman
#142 ( #24 WR)
OVR:69 (+1)
:star::star::star::star:
top150.png

Kansas native Kyle Thurman will come in and be the Cowboy's next deep threat WR. Will redshirt next season and then take over for Carlos Guillory as the slot/deep man. Choose Wyoming over Air Force amongst the coaching scandal going on there.

Jeremy Reid
#772 ( #67 ATH)
OVR:72 (+8)
:star::star::star:
gem.png

Reid is the first Pennsylvania product to join the Cowboy roster. Will end being a receiver or runningback, more than likely a WR because he doesn't have the speed (85) needed to be a bell cow running back.

Jonathan Weaver
#1976 ( #164 CB)
OVR:77 (+5)
:star::star:
JRJucoIcon.png

Weaver will step in and play right when he gets to campus. He is transferring early in order to get to campus in time for spring ball.

Rick Medlock
#1854 ( #185 DE)
OVR:74 (+2)
:star::star:
JRJucoIcon.png

Another JUCO joins the team in Texas product Rick Medlock. Will add good depth. More than likely will redshirt and get his grades under control before stepping in to a key depth role.

Dale Martin
#OVR:69 (+5)
1096 ( #117 DE)
:star::star::star:
Colorado product Dale Martin is a weight room freak who has some polishing to do yet.

Carl Francis
#495 ( #18 T)
OVR:66 (-4)
:star::star::star:
Francis will come in and be primarily a scout team member. May see time as a back up by the time he is a junior or senior.

Kevin Sullivan
#1750 ( #82 ATH)
OVR:70 (+6)
:star::star:
gem.png
SOJucoIcon.png

Sullivan is a speedster from Michigan. Not sure yet where he will play. Has decent ratings is many areas. Could be a decent WR, RB or Safety.

Rob Porter
#136 ( #9 DE)
OVR:73 (-1)
:star::star::star::star:
top150.png

Porter comes in and is looking to be the next great DE at Wyoming. Has the size and speed to be the overall package at DE. Will redshirt and likely be a starter the following year.

Joe Buchanan
#408 ( #10 FS)
OVR:69 (-2)
:star::star::star:
Decent FS but will need time to develop. May not have that luxury with the lack of depth at DB. Will likely redshirt and hopefully hit the weightroom hard this year and next spring.

John Williams
#433 ( #11 SS)
OVR:77 (+6)
:star::star::star:
gem.png

Nice find out of Georgia. Had a late offer from his home state Bulldogs but stuck with his first offer from Wyoming. Really like the commitment level out of this kid. Fast for a white boy but will need to utilize Wyoming's weightroom and nutrition plan to put on some bulk. Will redshirt and be a key backup at all DB positions, could possibly look into moving to a FS

2017-2018 Year in Review

The Cowboys had quite the shake up in the offseason when Charlie Marquart decided to leave early for the draft. Because of this, T.J. Richwalski was asked to step in a year before the coaching staff was ready for him to start. TJ stepped in and ended up leading the nation in passing yards (new school record), passing touchdowns (new school record), and interceptions (39, new NCAA record).
The RB position was decimated by injuries this season. Freshman phenom Ryan Burley was injured in the 2nd game of the season and was done for the year. 2nd stringer Kellen Overstreet was next to join him on the season ending IR which forced 3rd stringer Ben Fritz in to action. Fritz ended up with nearly 1300 yards and 16 TD's.
On the receiving end, Carlos Guillory was send to the season ending IR after week 1. Guillory was the leading receiver last season and the only real deep threat on the team. This injury accompanied by the position change for Travis Leak to CB in the offseason forced many new faces in the receiving corp. Freshman Beau Irby shined as a go to slot receiver totaling nearly 1000 yards. Sure handed junior Jason Sullivan lead the team with 10 touchdowns and is more than likely heading to the NFL after this season.

Offensively the Cowboys didn't have much for an identity once Burley went down. Tried to air it out and that didn't work as planned. Once the coaching staff got more confidence in their 3rd string rb and started to go back to pounding the ball, things turned around.

The defence was lead by senior Carl Granderson and his 12 sacks. Overall defence was nothing to write home about.

Cowboys finish the season 9-5 (6-3) MWC Champions and Hawaii Bowl Champions. Losing the two best offensive weapons early in the season really threw the team for a loop but they rebounded nicely and should be in the hunt for the MWC championship again next year. All but 2 offensive starters return next season. The defence will be hit a little harder losing 6 starters but most of those positions have solid back ups in place or had a stop gap JUCO coming in.

2018-2019 Preview

The Cowboy offence comes back loaded and ready to roll after a year of setbacks due to injuries. The team will be led by QB TJ Richlawski and his cannon of an arm. TJ will have an array of weapons at his disposal this season. Heisman finalist Ryan Burley is back at the RB position have sitting out last season with an injury. Burley is the full package at RB with 95 speed, 98 acceleration, and 91 break tackle. Backing him up will be last years gem of a find in Ben Fritz who ran for over 1300 yards. Wide receiver is as deep as its ever been. Three sure handed guys in Sullivan (97 ovr), Irby (87), and Woodard (84), along with speedster Guillory (99 spd, 99 acc). Skill position wise this is the most talented group to ever be in Wyoming.
The offensive line returns 4 starters from last year to solidify things up front.

The defence will have many new faces but will be led by returning All-American Josh Robinson at DE. His leadership will be needed as 1 of only 3 seniors starting on defence. Former WR Travis Leak switched positions to CB to help out the team depth wise. Could have been an All-American WR but the team needed some leadership on the secondary so he volunteered. He will also see some time at WR and KR/PR during his final season. Another name to watch out for is FS Justin Long. He is a freak athletically and can play any position on the field. Look out for him to be roaming all over the field making plays.

Overall if the defence can make 1 or 2 stops a game that should be enough for the high powered offence. The only problem on offence will be who gets the ball with all of these weapons.

2018-2019 Recruiting

The football teams recruiting budget was cut down to nearly nothing this year so not much is known about each signee.

Lee Black
#258 ( #13 TE)
71 OVR
:star::star::star::star:
Great size for at TE at 6'7 244. Will be a nice addition to the Cowboy roster and hopefully persuade more top end recruits to come to Wyoming.

Steven Davis
#78 ( #8 DE)
76 OVR
:star::star::star::star:
top150.png

Davis will redshirt and then likely start the following year.

Lance Weldon
#568 ( #122 WR)
OVR:69 (+6)
:star::star::star:
gem.png

One of the few guys that I decided to scout a bit, scouted 60% and he's a gem already. Will develop in to the next deep threat at WR after Guillory is gone this year with his 94 spd. Recruited to Wyoming for track as well. Will need to work on his hands a bit during his redshirt season.

DJ Justice
#233 ( #19 DE)
OVR 72
:star::star::star::star:
Son of former MLB star David Justice. Great frame for a pass rushing DE. Should be set at DE for awhile now after this recruiting class.

Casey Keenan
#697 ( #31 QB)
OVR:71 (+5)
:star::star::star:
Keenan is a little different QB than what normally comes to Wyoming being a pocket passer with very little mobility. Depending on if Richlawski leaves after this season, that would leave the Cowboys with only 2 qb's on roster and both of them as mobile as Peyton Manning. Read option may be out after this season if a more mobile qb cant be found.
