Well outside of FSU, the conference is going to be weak as fuck next year. Clemson, VPI, Miami all get new quarterbacks.

Vad Lee thought transferring from Georgia Tech to James Madison gave him a better shot at the NFL. Paul Johnson's clock is ticking, maybe we'll suck so bad we can fire him this year.

Go Dukies.

Miami is going to be weak as fuck for a long time. The days of Miami being elite or even top 20 competitive are over. That's not just on Golden either. I mean Golden is mediocre but Miami being mediocre goes beyond him to me.

GT over/under Georgia Tech getting five wins?

Well considering what I said earlier about Miami, VT, and Clemson getting new quarterbacks (throw UGA in there too), you are definitely selling us short. I think Justin Thomas is actually a better option (no pun intended) for this offense than Vad Lee. I just think the concept of a passing QB transferring pretty much killed our ability to recruit quarterbacks and receivers in the future under CPJ.

But yea next year, we will beat Wofford, Tulane, and Georgia Southern. We should beat Pittsburgh, Virginia, and NC State. Miami, Va Tech, Duke, Clemson are toss ups. And as always, we won't be favored @thUGA.

So yea, at worst we only win 6 games.

The best record I had in mind was 7-5. Reason I said 5 was because college football has a lot of surprises. NC State could beat GT or something.

Should be interesting to see how Louisville does over time. Wish they shuffled them over to the other division. I am honestly worried about our game up there on a Thurs night. Still having flashbacks to that debacle in the rain on a thurs in 2002

I agree I want to see them just go North/South. I have no idea who is in each division. I also read they might go with a 14-team one table league and keep a CCG with the top two teams going for it.

Louisville will be a great addition FB and basketball. They are very serious about athletics and I don't think will lose too much after Strong left. They travel and will be a better member than Maryland from a W/L standpoint in both major sports.

Don't the NCAA rules say you have to have 2 divisions to have a championship game? They would have to petition the NCAA to change the rules, and the NCAA isn't going to do anything to help anyone.

Also North/South has serious balance issues, at least to me it does.

Funny. This happened to my former highschool team a few years back. They became so big and ridiculous they were kicked out of their conference. Formed a conference with the other big and ridiculous schools. But I think there is only 5 teams in the conference. Nobody wanted to play them out of conference so they had to schedule a conference team as a non-conference game.

I was about to post that article. One of the huge problems with these huge leagues (especially since they only play 8 games) is that as the article mentioned a team like Syracuse doesn't get to go play at Miami which is a pretty big deal. It said Miami would want to play at Syracuse which is kinda strange to me. I think if they moved the game to Giants Stadium the Canes would be a lot more interested.

Didn't Cal play CU in a non conference game a few years ago? Something where they scheduled each other before CU joined the league.

doh

THANK YOU Dermott McHeshi
Yep. CU already played at Cal and it was too late to switch/Cal's AD is an idiot/it would've been kinda messed up if CU had to pay for its trip to Cal and got nothing back.

The problem with this league starts at the top with John Swofford. He is an absolute joke.

Beyond FSU and Clemson, the rest of the league is a joke. NC State may get back to .500 this season because they play the weakest OOC schedule I have ever seen. Doeren better hope that Jacoby Brissett is everything he thinks he is and more or else his stay in Raleigh is going to be short lived. That shit show I watched last year was pathetic. Theres a difference between being a bad team with no talent...and being a bad team with no talent that looks like they haven't been coached at all. When you have penalties from Week 1 until the end of the season where guys can't get lined up correctly on special teams and offense...you need to get your shit in gear.

Didn't realize until just now that Miami plays at Louisville on Labor Day. Papa Johns KFC Taco Bell Long John Silver's Stadium should be rockin'.

Hoping NC State can pick up 4* DE Darian Roseboro on Friday. Everyone has been saying he was a Michigan lean until the past few days when just about every recruiting "guru" changed their predictions to NC State.

How do you feel about the team Wolfman? I have a hard time caring as much as I used to, therefore I am fairly clueless. The routine terrible out of conference slate doesn't do any favors.

I'm like you man. The older I get, the more important shit that comes into my life that makes football a good bit less meaningful. However, i do still try to keep up...so here are my thoughts:

Offense:

QB- Brissett is the man here. A past walk on and a true freshman backing him up so if he doesn't perform well or he gets injured, the season is down the tubes again. Not sure what to expect from him but it can't be worse than last year, so I expect improvement from that position.
RB - Three headed monster of Creecy, Thornton and Dayes. Creecy still gets PT somehow even though he is slow and tentative to the hole. Thornton hopefully has put his immaturity behind him and is ready to play football. I love Dayes...kid has some moves but he severely lacks any kind of breakaway speed.
WR - Very deep position. I've heard Jonathan Alston has made great strides. There will be LOTS of mixing of personnel here. Underwood, Valdes-Scantling, Alston, Cherry, Ramos, Hines, Louis...all will probably get a good amount of PT.
TE - Grinnage and Browne should be more than adequate here. Both very big bodies. Depth Chart has Browne as first team which is surprising since Grinnage showed lots of promise last season
OL - Having Rob Crisp back is HUGE as long as he stays healthy. Chandler on the other side gives us two tackles with tons of experience. Thuney finally gets to move back inside to guard which is where he is one of the ACC's best. Other guard spot is manned by true freshman Tony Adams who looks like a Redshirt Senior physically. Center spot is weakest IMO with Quentin Schooley back manning that spot.
K - Sade back for his senior year. Very solid kicker.

Defense:

DL - Lots of experience, lots of talent. Two freshmen on the two deep in Street and BJ Hill. Street is a grown ass man who has an NFL ready bull rush already. BJ Hill really impressed in the spring and this offseason and unseated Thomas Teal for the starting DT position opposite TY McGill. The DE positions will be manned by Mike Rose and Art Norman. Norman has really bulked up and is in the 250-260 range. Hopefully he hasn't lost the quickness that hes known for. Mike Rose has an NFL body but he needs to put some production behind it. I still remember him running down the Syracuse RB from 20 yards back last season.
LB - Well, the loss of MJ Salahuddin at MLB hurts a bit since we'll now be starting RS Freshman Jerod Fernandez at that spot with True Freshman Airius Moore backing him up. Fernandez is said to have opened some eyes, so hopefully he'll do well. The other LB spot since we're running a 4-2-5 will be manned by Rodman Noel and Brandon Pittman. Both have been "solid" in their time with NC State. Looking for them to make a jump
CB - Juston Burris and Jack Tocho. Both are physically impressive at 6'0 201 and 6'1 211. Burris will be a 3 year starter and Tocho racked up two interceptions against Syracuse in his first start last year before getting injured. Backups are very green so burris and tocho will have to carry the mail. Tim Buckley and the hard hitting Dravious Wright will play the nickel back which will be on the field alot.
S - Hakim Jones and Josh Jones will start. Josh Jones looks like a damn linebacker as well does his backup Germaine Pratt who came in the spring at 6'3 210 and is now a damn manimal at 6'3 230. Hakim was solid last season and I look for him to make a jump in production with a season under his belt.
P - Wil Baumann...solid though not spectacular.

Overview:

Lots of youth all over the place. You've got freshmen, RS FR or Sophomores in the two deep at just about every single position. I expect bowl eligibility as we're given 4 free wins in OOC. If this team can't get 2 ACC wins this season, Dave Doeren's ass will be getting warm. Trouble is, hes gonna be relying on alot of guys that just don't have a ton of playing time in major college football including his starting QB. We'll see how it goes.

Watched the second half. I think Brissett definitely has a better skillset than those dudes last year, but having to need such an intense comeback for the win is not a good omen. Lucky to make a bowl.

I thought 2009 was the worst pass defense I'd ever see State have. Oh how wrong I was

On a positive note, Brissett is an improvement on his predecessors. And we're up two scores now. Maybe we'll get a conference win. Wake is pretty bad

Yea...and we get them at home. If it were in Winston salem, I'd mark it a loss. We haven't beaten them there in well over a decade iirc
