2041 WBL Season Thread

I like the way you go deep into stat tracking and analysis, doh. It makes you one of my favorite WBL managers. I like how you take the game seriously and try to add the realism to it.

I just think you hold stats in more regard than I do. I think Perez is a detriment to any team, and I would personally avoid him if I were a team looking to compete. So based on those beliefs, using him as trade bait wasnt really a worthwhile plan for me. If someone wants him, they are free to take the risk, but I dont feel the need to squeeze every penny out of every player. I dont feel like I lost out on anything by releasing him rather than trading.

I am not sure how good of a prospect Martinez even is, but Fahd is a shut-down guy. Gooksta is in win-now mode. I think his original offer was actually more than Martinez, but I didn't want more draft picks.

I read Moneyball when I was a sophomore in HS and have been looking at players like this for now 10+ years so this game is right up my ally

Back in the olden days of utopia I used to get in many arguments with people over stat based stuff.

You can look at the player attributes (@Yankee151) to see things like his desire to win. Perez is actually "very high" but his leadership and loyalty are both "low". I'm not sure how much this stuff means although I have found connections between certain skills/stats and certain attributes. I probably should read about it.

And yeah I don't think you should've or would've gotten anything for trading him. The league doesn't value league average to better than average guys. For instance this trade deadline when I was far out of the Lamb I tried to trade Ernest Kahl no one wanted him partially because he is a FA I think and also because his ratings aren't great. But his ERAs the last five years have been 3.47, 3.78, 3.61, 3.64, 3.68 and he was just making $6m this year so he wasn't a huge cost. Also in the environment producing vs. ERA his K/9, BB/9, HR/9 are actually similar to Perez.

Kahl might be a SP who is only good with my ballpark (he fits it well) and defense. Who knows. All up to how you view the game.

I used to troll doh pretty hard on oldtopia, but I love baseball stats. This game is great for that reason. I don't analyze them like I used to, but this game provides enough for each person to kind of find what they value and others don't which is fun.

Yeah I used to analyze stuff like BABIP and such but now I don't play fantasy baseball/lost a lot of interest in MLB I use those skills on here.

The thing that sucks is BABIP specifically is so mainstream now (along with HR/9, K/9, park factors, etc.) you can't fleece people in fantasy/murder drafts like I could in 2004-2010 or so. Too much of this shit is out there so there isn't the advantages there were just 5-10 years ago.

Gotta hand calculate SIERA, That's how I fleeced OU and Orlando for Millen and Ugly

I feel like most of my squad would be AAA lifers for OU.

I want to win the ship without having a years of past Yankees-esque squad like Amsterdam.

You see a guy in AAA who is blocked come talk to me. I tried to give ruiz and lipinski away back in the day (well lipinski was offered as a throw in just this year).

Yes I had an offer for Ruiz which would've been a giant fleece but pulled it back because I signed Lugin. F me.

Karl-- My best advice if you want to win now is the great thing about the WBL compared to the UBL is you can find a lot of really good plug and play FAs who don't cost a ton. For instance, I got Sam Boessen on a 3/3m deal who IMO is a league average LF. I got Berrios who put up a 4.7 WAR in about 110 GS for 4.5m. I got Lugin for 5m last off-season and he was 4th in OPS. You could fill up your team quite nicely and be league average or better at 3-4 positions plus 2-3 pitchers. Combine that with some minimum/cheaper players who are good and you could win 90 games in the SL easily IMO. You already are above average at a few places and have some nice SPs.

Check out some role bench players too to try and squeeze out an extra win or two per guy. I signed this LH UTIL IF named Duan this year for $900k who I just really used to be a defensive specialist. He ended up with a 0.8 WAR with just 126 PAs. You can find cheap platoons in FA too.

If you hunt around the end of FA there are some great deals and again this league doesn't really value league average is a theory I have.

Also you can use draft picks to get guys if you want to win now.

If I had FA money I'd spend it this offseason so my bullpen won't be horrendous for next season, but I don't so that'll be my weak link

 OU and I just want to see our farmhands in the big leagues. I didn't care what I got for him. Hell, we forgot to trade the pick that year haha.

I sniped his spot. Thought he was in the exit to leave but he was positioning to back in. Obv he is an awful car maneuverer but i should have seen what he was doing. We shook it out and he said we were all good

5-1 gook. Can't wait for Karpetbomber to blow game 7. I wanted him to blow game 6 so Nico could be my white knight fully rested.

Is Silky the game 7 pitcher? Will that trade pay off? Will the North again fall into irrelevancy?

It doesnt get better than this.
