I always thought the stricture on not calling USC "Southern Cal" was stupid. FWIW, when I was a student, I bought a sweatshirt at the USC bookstore on campus that said "Southern Cal" across the chest. But fuck Lou Holththththh whenever he said it. Probably that's where people got annoyed...
