2021 MLB and Rockies AA Look-back Thread

i'll preface this by saying I usually don't pay attention to the strike zone box...however the Braves are probably the closest to having a straight on view as possible. This pitch never had the plate. And to make matters worse, check out the calls on pitches to Soto in the same inning. I've never been one to jump on the "robo ump" train...but jesus they're making it difficult

Pretty boring game so far, but the Rockies take the lead in the bottom of the 5th on a 2 out single by Daza that scores the catcher Nunez who lead the inning off by snapping a 17 AB hitless streak with a double!

The Rangers go to the bullpen!

Khris Davis ties the game with a pinch hit homer in the 8th, his first HR for the rangers and the first pinch homer in his career. I remember using him as a pinch hitter on my diamond dynasty team because he was the cheapest power hitter!

Bard the bum with 3 ks in the top of the 9th! Maybe he’s not a bum?

Garrett Hampson struck out with a foul bunt attempt, lol. A real Douglass Tagg move!

Rockies win in extras on the classic walk off wild pitch!

McMahon started as ghost runner and was advanced to third on a productive out and then scored on the wild pitch, lol. Love these extra innings rules, it really benefits bad teams lol.

MLB going to start enforcing foreign substances on June 21. We see if they actually follow through.

60 game champs, lmao.

There was no parade. It was a few people celebrating downtown outside the stadium. As opposed to outside the stadium in LA, where everyone immediately gets back in their cars to drive back to Downey (when they're not stabbing people).

U should have ur dad buy you this book

That article is surface level.

Technically I should have said that they had a higher median spin rate increase, but the point is that the Padres had one of the biggest jumps and did it with all their pitchers. In short - Padres are in the biggest glass house here.

Spin Doctors: the teams that have added the most fastball spin - Beyond the Box Score

Average gain in spin is somewhat misleading because pitchers like kella and Crowe can skew things fairly heavily. Here’s the same chart again, but this time we’re looking at median gain in fastball spin.

19223

This makes a little more sense. The Pirates are still in the top five but have been dragged down by the slough of pitchers who have only seen slight gains or losses. The Dodgers are still in the second spot, leap-frogged by the rival Padres.

Joe Musgrove is the lone Padre to see a jump of 100 rpm or more, but the staff has consistently added spin.

Glasnow trying to blame the rule change for his arm injury.

Guess he thinks his injury history, over 150 days on the IL the last 2+ years with arm injuries, isn't out there for everyone to see
