I just can't believe how badly they have covered the back end. Everyone knows defense and goaltending are critical to making a successful playoff run, but every season is like Groundhog Day. How have they not traded for competent goaltending?

And watching Nurse in the box for another dumb penalty while the Canucks score another PPG. smdh. What an overrated BUM.

The Flyers haven’t had competent goaltending for decades.

Why should Edmonton be held to a higher standard?

They had a competent goaltender who turned out to be a rapist, and they had Michael Leighton for their last cup run. Aside from the unfortunate Patrick Kane goal, he wasn't really a BUM.

Edmonton is on a whole different level of incompetent, and it's not like there haven't been competent goaltenders available via trade or FA.

PLAY LA BAMBA BABY
Edmonton as a franchise has been stuck in the 80s in a lot of ways, especially how they view talent acquisition and development (hint: they don't develop players).

The blueprint for success in today's NHL is out there (analytics) and the Oilers refuse to modernize.

If Edmonton doesn't win it all (they won't) then I'd prolly be the least upset if Dallas wins. Fuck New York and Boston for obvious reasons, Carolina for 2006 and DeAngelo, Florida for Matthew Tkachuk, Vancouver for their fans, and Colorado for being what the Oilers could be if they had a competent front office and players wanted to live there. At least one of the best Stars is azn

Although they're all still better options than Tampa or Vegas.

I'd probably be okay with any of these remaining teams winning it because there's some minor compelling interest for me with all of them, even the teams I'm supposed to hate (as a Flyers fan). That's the best part about the Flyers being out of it. At this point, I'm just enjoying the games.

Seeing as how Skinner has been the worst playoff goalie in the cap era, it's not likely he plays worse. Still would rather have seen Campbell but Pickard has earned it with his play this season. He's done about as well as you could hope for.
